I flew two flights with them this summer, but neither was any sort of special plane. Strangely though, for one of them they put us on a bus and drove us to a different gate where we then had to go up the stairs to the jetway (after waiting ~10 minutes on the bus for fueling to finish) . Not sure why we didn’t just leave from that gate.

Funnily enough, b oth Peyo and Hergé are from Brussels, putting them closer to Flanders than Wallonia.

That’ll be the combination of waffles, fries, chocolate and beer. That stuff does things to your bowels.

I just flew in the red one. 3 euros for a bottle of water... Brussels airport was one of the worst experiences I had flying in a long time. We came from Rome and were catching a connecting flight to Toronto. We had 90 minutes to go to another gate at the same terminal - maybe 15 minutes apart . We had to go through passport control - 3 very disinterested passport checkers, and a line of good 400-500 people that I could see, probably more behind . Long line of very pissed off people about to miss their flights.

Then, when we finally made it through there and were booking it to our gate, Air Brussels personnel basically blocked off access to the gate and had 2 planes worth of people sitting in another line doing....well, no one knows. We made it to the counter, they checked our passport and ticket and let us through to our gate, where they checked our passport and ticket one more time before they let us on the plane? Still no clue what they were doing.   Then, as people trickled in - oh and I should mention they had no way for people on flights about to depart to go through the line faster - we sat in the plane for an hour+ before we took off. Fuck Brussels airport.

At least they had a decent in-flight meal.

Oh, to top it off, Air Canada lost our baggage upon arrival to Denver, and were so incompetent in even just telling us how to fill out the paperwork, we had to go back to the airport for them to fill it out, and even then, it was not done properly.

Sounds like quite the trip, at least you made it home (eventually)!

Brussels Airport can be a hit or miss. Flying within the EU is generally fine, as you don’t need to go through passport control (I’ve done train station - gate in 15 minutes multiple times) , but non-EU lines are often awful.

There’s a Belgian law that requires your ID/passport to be checked together with your ticket before you’re allowed to board. Ridiculous and with plenty of privacy concerns , but it passed [shrugs ].

If I’m honest, I’d only choose Brussels Airlines for intercontinental flights. Within Europe they’re alright, but service is lacking compared to the likes of Lufthansa and Swiss (who still offer a free drink and snack onboard) .

Agreed. We booked through United, but you know how they are with Star aliance flights. We’ll be going to Europe again for Christmas 2019, and I sure hope to avoid Brussels.
